I have really long, naturally curly hair. I wake up each morning with crazy-scary bed head. If I don’t wash my hair daily, there is practically no way to tame it. However, my hair care routine is pretty low-maintenance. Most days, I just run some gel through it after a shower, scrunch and go.

If I feel adventurous, I’ll use the blow dryer and straightener, although this doesn’t happen too often, mostly because it takes too much time. Even though my hair is thin, it takes forever to dry. And once it’s dry, it looks really poofy and frizzy. Another reason I don’t straighten my hair often is because I don’t want to cause unnecessary heat damage. I used my straightener way too much in high school and still notice lingering damage all these years later, mostly because I have lots of fly-aways,

However, I really like the way my hair looks when it’s straight. But, I’m one of those people who can’t stand the thought of oily roots, so just thinking about not washing my hair every day makes me cringe. Truth be told, my hair is naturally dry enough that I could go two or three days between washes. But I just can’t bring myself to do that.

So I decided to try dry shampoo. I bought the Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo. I picked this product mainly because I like the regular line of Suave keratin-infused shampoos and conditioners. I used the item on my second-day hair, so by the time I used the product, it had been 24 hours since I last washed it.

The directions on the bottle were simple. Spray your hair, holding the bottle about 8-10 inches away. Brush through to remove excess powder. When sprayed my first section of hair, I don’t think I used enough because I didn’t see any powder at all. So I sprayed more on the second section and noticed the powder residue, which I had no problems brushing out. However, my hair his lighter, so I can see where a leftover residue would be an issue for those with darker hair.

Another thing I noticed was my hair got lots of static cling after using this product. I normally don’t have static problems, so this was annoying. The product’s smell was pleasant. It was pretty strong when you first sprayed it on, but it faded really fast.

Truth be told, my hair didn’t look much different after using the product than it did before. And it didn’t feel any cleaner. I still felt the compulsive need to wash my hair. By the end of the day, this urge to wash my hair had intensified, and I think that my hair looked oilier than it would have if I hadn’t used the dry shampoo at all.

So overall, this isn’t a product I would recommend. It’s easier to just wash your hair, leave it alone or throw it in a ponytail.
