It Started With A Blind Date

My name is Lisa  P. and this is how we met. It was Labor day weekend back in 1986. I got a call from a friend and she said her boyfriend had an old friend that was town for the weekend. She wanted to know if I was interested in meeting him.

I was not a big fan of blind dates. I called another friend of mine and asked her if she wanted to tag along and go with a group of us up to the local boardwalk (she was my buffer). So we went and I figured if I did not like him I would make my excuses and just go off with my friend.

As the night went on, we were getting along nicely. It came time to go on a ride, which was a two seater. I threw my friend off and decided to go on with Dave (aka my blind date). At the end of the date we said our goodbyes and told my friend that he was the man I was going to marry.

We continued to see one another on weekends as he lived over two hours away. That December he asked me to marry him. We were married two years later. This past August we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We have three wonderful children. He is the most wonderful man in the world and I am so very grateful that I decided to go on that blind date 27 years ago. My life has been wonderful and I couldn't ask for a better husband, friend or father to my children.

We met through Myspace

I'm Danielle N. and my other half is Daniel D. We met through mutual friends on a website called Myspace. We started talking on Myspace in 2007. We talked all summer long, all day and all night. Now, like the hit TV show, I had no idea if I was being cat-fished, but I took a chance and invited him to my Sweet 16 party. The moment I saw him, I knew he was the one!

On Sept. 8, 2008, at 12 a.m., my love asked me out, which happened to be my birthday!

We have been together ever since. Being high school sweethearts has made it somewhat hard because we were so young when we started going out. Yet with all the ups and downs, we always found hope in our relationship to remain madly in love. We have grown together and are now starting our lives together with our first apartment in Las Vegas. We have been together five years and are going strong!

BC and AD: A Love Story

Like every good love story, once upon a time I met the love of my life. It first began when I changed schools. I was walking through the building with a friend who was showing me around when I noticed this guy. I couldn't see his face, but from what I could tell he looked nice.

Jokingly, I told my friend he had a cute butt. She ushered me on as we both laughed. One day, during a passing time, I finally got a chance to see his face. He was gorgeous! Black hair, baby blue eyes, toned muscles, the whole package. I fell in love at first sight. He decided to make the first move and say hi. His voice was so smooth. It made me melt inside. Later I found out he had a girlfriend. I decided the right thing to do was let him be and move on. I did.

After just one month of an awful relationship, I decided I had enough and could not ignore my feelings. I confessed to him online. To my surprise, he had just become single. It was a week before Valentine's Day. It seemed like a perfect opportunity to me. He wanted to get to know me and asked me to a skating rink, obviously as friends. I was ecstatic. I got ready for hours. We had fun that night and later decided to hangout again, for an official date.

The movies sounded the best. After a small kiss at the movies, I went to text my friend to tell her what had happened. The text also mentioned, "I think I'm in love with him." Well, my phone, being messed up and all, forwarded the text to my friend, my mother and him. Great.

I felt like I was going to throw up. That, however, changed immediately when he “I love you” back. On February 22, we made it official outside under the moon and stars, where in the snow he had written "Go out with me." I jumped into his arms as he picked me up and kissed him on the forehead. When he set me down, I wrote "Yes" with a big heart and our initials (BC and AD) in it. (BC and AD, funny right? I get it all the time.)

From then on, we've been madly in love. Never a dull moment. We've been through so much and our love has stayed strong. Today he is still my B and I am his princess and we will continue to live happily ever after.

P.S. the "scary" looking picture of us was when we spent our first Halloween together. It’s my favorite picture.

Young Love

It all started when I was 13 years old. My name is Tiffany and I met my husband in our home town of Chanute, Kansas when I was 13. I had lived in Texas at the time and was always back and forth between Chanute and Texas for family gatherings.

On one of our many visits, my mom let me go out for a little while to hang out with my aunt on Main Street to get to know people. I saw this cute looking boy driving in circles around me. I asked my aunt, "Who is that?" and she replied, "That’s Joey, he's a big flirt around this town and he's a player."

I kept that in mind on our way back home, but I just couldn't get him out of my head. A few days later, my family and I went back to Texas and I still couldn't stop thinking about him!

A few years later, my mom and step dad at the time filed for a divorce and my mom and I moved in with my grandparents in Baxter Springs, Kansas. When I was 16, I had met another guy named Ryan. I thought he was the love of my life, but that turned out to be totally wrong.

My mom met another man and moved in with him while I stayed with my grandparents and went to school. Within a few months, she pulled me out of the school I was in and I switched schools once again, leaving the ones I loved behind.

The next week, I was enrolled in Chanute Public Schools. My boyfriend, Ryan, had moved in with me and that’s when all the trouble began. What I thought was love was actually lust.

On my first day of school, I was shown my classes and I happened to see Joey in the same class as me. We both looked in each other’s eyes and kicked it off from there. He told his friends that he would have me within the month, and boy was he right!

My now-ex, Ryan, was a total dirt bag because he thought he had the right to lay a hand on me. That was it for me. I had finally found my true love! Joey began to come over and get to know my family, take me out on dates and spoil me like crazy.

We had our ups and downs of course, but it was love at first sight. We dated through high school and got engaged. I got pregnant and had our beautiful baby girl a few months after we graduated. We split up and that was the most horrific thing ever because we both felt so empty.

A few months later, we got back together and won the lottery! We took our daughter out of town with us and spoiled each other. He proposed to me with a beautiful ring and I said YES! A year later I was planning the wedding. We were married April 28, 2012. We have had a lot of ups and downs, but we wouldn't trade each other or our daughter for the world.

Long-Distance Relationship

My name is Danielle and I was lucky enough to marry my best friend! Here is our story.

While home from college and on the hunt for a summer job, I headed to our local mall.  My choice was Victoria's Secret or Macy's (way on the other side of the mall).  Since VS was closer, I applied there first. Luckily I got the job and my summer began. I first laid eyes on my husband while walking into work one day. He worked right outside of Victoria's Secret at an independent kiosk selling scented oils and perfume.

After a couple weeks of giving each other the eye and subtle hellos before work, he finally came up to me and said hello. I could tell he was nervous, but so was I! He passed me his number with shaky hands and said he would be honored if I called. Forgetting any and all dating rules, I called that night because I was so excited to get to know this guy.  I'm so glad I did because our conversation didn't stop. We laughed all night and realized we had so much in common. That phone call turned into our first date, which had an equally strong connection. And we were hooked!

We were joined at the hip for the rest of the summer, now as a couple. When school began, we discussed remaining together even though our colleges were 300 miles away from each other! But we endured. Though we missed each other, we learned valuable relationship characteristics like communication and trust while being that far apart from each other. Visits were few and far between, but we made it work, all at the age of 19!

Three years later, we felt so accomplished. We made it through a long-distance relationship and graduation was around the corner. We were engaged and began to plan our lives together. My last two weeks of college was a whirlwind- I graduated one week and we were married the next.

The pictures submitted show us on our first day as husband and wife and the other eight years later on our anniversary. We now have two boys and I couldn't be happier. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Persistence Pays Off

I actually stumbled upon this contest because for Valentine’s Day, I asked my husband, Ryan, to buy me a new set of extensions, not chocolates or flowers!

Ryan and I knew each other a few years before we started dating. His sister and I were close friends. Ryan immediately had his eye on me! He waited three years to even ask me to dance at a wedding. I declined the offer because a mutual friend had just told me the week before that he was interested in me, so I didn't want to lead him on!

About 11 months later, in May 2006, I finally gave in and went on a date with Ryan.  Ever since, we were literally inseparable and officially became a couple on July 7th! We just have so much in common!

He instantly wanted to get me a ring, but I was in no rush. Eventually, I loved the idea as we grew closer. He surprised me and proposed on October 7, 2008!  I wanted to finish college first, so we decided to get married on August 28, 2010.

We have been happily married ever since and built a house that we moved into in October 2012! We love to go to Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games, ride our ATVs, play with our dog, make trips to the beach and travel!  I'm extremely lucky to have such a thoughtful and kind-hearted man!

In Fate's Course

My name is Sheena and my significant other is Myles. We have been dating now for seven years, but met in middle school. Myles was always the class clown and cracked jokes every chance he could.

I was the one who was annoyed by him , the one that wanted to learn and of course had to have straight A's. I wasn't too fond of Myles the first two years, but one day in eighth grade, my schedule changed. I was in almost every class with Myles.

As time passed in our eighth grade year, I grew more fond of him and actually had a huge crush on him. Well, come to find out he had a crush on me, too! I guess you can say opposites attract! We started dating at the end of our eighth grade year. The months passed and we went to high school. We were getting stronger and closer as each year passed.

Everyone called us the high school sweethearts because we never let anything come between us. Our senior year, we decided to run for prom king and queen. Well, I’m blessed to say that I got to dance with my king that night and he got to dance with his queen. It was the best memory throughout high school. Everyone came up to us and congratulated us.

Our senior year came to an end and by then we were a good four years into our relationship, going on five. We moved into our own place in Arizona as I went to college. Later, we decided to move back to San Diego, California and got our own place again.

Well, as our six year anniversary approached, he finally proposed to me on the beach with a message in a bottle that was left for me on the shore! I quickly emptied the sand out of the bottle and an old script fell out. It’s always been one of my dreams to find a message in a bottle, so I was oblivious that this one was made just for me!

As I read the letter, it told me how much he cared for me and loved me and that he needed to ask me a question. I turned around to find him on his knee and he asked for my hand in marriage! We are getting married on July 18, 2015! I get to marry my very first love and have many more happy years to come! You can say we were in fate’s course and I am so happy we were!

Facebook Changed My Life

Have you ever had a cute guy you went to high school with, but never spoke to, pop up on the "People You May Know" section on Facebook? Have you had that urge to send a friend request but were hesitant?

Facebook changed my life in 2009. Marty and I had gone to the same elementary, middle and high school together, but had never spoken. He was in the grade above me and I had always considered him a little out of my league. I saw his picture pop up on my Facebook for weeks before I decided to just go ahead and request him as a friend.

He was living in Michigan and I was still in Ohio, so I figured “What do I have to lose?”  Hours after I had requested him and we became friends, I received notifications that he had commented on my pictures and my inbox contained a message. I remember being at work and being so filled with excitement to get on lunch break to check my message.

Soon, messages lead to texting, which then lead to phone calls. Marty then informed me that he would be coming back to Ohio soon because his older brother was having brain surgery and his family would be celebrating Thanksgiving a week early before the operation. The time came for this early Thanksgiving, which actually became our FIRST DATE.

As if first dates aren't nerve racking enough, I was getting ready to not only spend time with Marty, but also his family plus 30 other relatives and friends!                                                    After becoming inseparable, we were faced with a decision. Marty was given a job opportunity that would require him to move to Maine. He had to pick between this girl he just became close with and a fresh start with a new job and journey states away.

He chose me! This led us to decide to take a huge step and not only be together, but to live together. We found an apartment and our families thought we were crazy, but gave us their blessing. Our love grew and blossomed. We soon learned to appreciate our quick decisions to start our lives together when we found out we were expecting a baby.

Years later, we are blessed with a healthy, smart and silly three-year-old son, Mason. We have learned to take chances and risks because life is short and it's hard to tell how things will end up. Neither of us use Facebook anymore, but I couldn't be more thankful for the site!

I Followed My Heart

Josh and I met in October of 2011. My best friend from college had moved to Boston right after we graduated college and I had flown up to visit her multiple times over the years.

Each time, I fell more and more in love with the city. I kept saying I would move to Boston, but I continued to hit roadblocks in my attempts to make it happen. I had not been to Boston to visit my friend in almost two years due to conflicting schedules when I finally made it up in 2011 for Halloween weekend.

My friend had moved to a new apartment and I remember getting off the T in the pouring rain to meet her and go and see her new place. After dropping all of my stuff off in her room and attempting to dry off from my walk in the rain, we were standing in the foyer trying to decide where to go for dinner.

All of a sudden, there were footsteps coming down the stairs above us and over the railing I saw a head. As the head turned the corner and the rest of the person came into view, I got my first glimpse of Josh. He was adorable and to top it off, nice as can be. We only spoke for a few minutes (he was on his way out to visit a friend who was recovering from surgery) but I knew I was interested.

Over the rest of the weekend we really got to know each other and realized that we had a lot in common. After going home, we spent almost two hours a night talking until I came went back to Boston over New Years and we had our first official date.

After nine months of traveling up and down the East Coast, I found my dream job in Boston and took the leap to give our relationship a chance. I am happy to report that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Exactly one year to the day of our first date, Josh got down on one knee in the middle of a snow storm and proposed.

We are now planning our wedding and our wedding date is fast approaching. I can't wait until May 17 when I get to say "I DO" and marry my perfect match!

Love At First Site

I would like to keep it interesting and quick, so let's get this magical story started about how I met the man in my life. It’s pretty funny, too!

It began in November 2007. My friend and I were having a girl’s night and we went on Facebook and started adding cute guys. Yes, you heard it right! He accepted me and put me on his hot list. OH YAH!

I was super pumped and then immediately messaged him and got his MSN and we began talking and exchanged phone numbers. We got in trouble and ran up the phone bill.

If you ask me, this part is pretty ironic, but he told me his school was coming to mine for a basketball game. I was so nervous because I thought pictures can be deceiving.

Anyhow, we hung out that weekend because of the tournament. I loved spending time with him and felt super comfortable. I knew this was the man that could be my best friend and partner. After that weekend we kept in touch and hung out until we moved to the city together and I finished twelfth grade.

Then we moved in completely together and the crazy thing is, here we are seven years later and still in love. We are engaged, live in a house and have two wonderful dogs.

My life is great with this man. He is my high school sweetheart, my best friend and my partner. It was love at first sight and happily ever after. Dreams do come true.

All It Took Was an Engineering Class and a Supermarket

Who would have ever thought that being at the right place at the right time and experiencing an awkward situation could bring two, young people together? Young, shy and lacking confidence, I was the only girl in my engineering class my junior year of high school. It was the first day of class and it was my worst nightmare being the only girl completely surrounded by a bunch of guys. I was one of the first students to enter the class and sat at a table... alone. Eventually, more students started coming into the class and sat at my table since there were no seats left anywhere else.

I aspired to become a biomedical engineer one day in the future, so I took that bold risk to take the engineering class. My guy and I were originally only acquaintances in the class, but I would have never gotten to know him better if it wasn't for a funny incident that happened at my work.

I work as a cashier in my local supermarket and one day just so happened to check out the older brother of the guy in my class. When the older brother paid, his last name appeared on the screen. He had the same uncommon last name as a guy who is in my engineering class.

I asked the guy, "Oh, do you have a son that goes to this school?"

He laughed and said, "No, but I do have a brother who goes to that school!"

And he laughed again. Yikes, how embarrassing! I thought his older brother was his father! But if it weren’t for this moment, his brother would have never told him about the occurrence at my job and we wouldn't have started talking after that.

After that incident, I always talked to that guy in my engineering class. We worked in the same groups, became partners for projects and eventually he started driving me home from school every day. Slowly, we became friends and even became more than friends. One day, about six months later, I knew I had to take it to the next step. Instead of him asking me, I asked HIM to his prom (he was a senior). I was super confident that he liked me and that this was the start of a great relationship.

The week before prom, I was freaking out because I felt very “ugly” and that I wouldn’t be good enough for him. My dress was falling apart and my hair was so short! My friend suggested I get hair extensions for the day of prom. And this was the best decision of my life! As seen in the photo, I purchased a pair of Human Hair Extensions and they were perfect! They blended in so well and the color even matched perfectly. I took them to the hair salon and she curled them and styled my hair. Again, I felt confident and was finally ready for the big day, PROM.

I went from being a shy, self-conscious “ugly” feeling girl to a beautiful, confident, outgoing, loving woman! I met an amazing guy in such an awkward situation, but it has been over a year and we are still going strong. Nothing is better than being with a loved one that makes you feel strong, confident, loved, and beautiful throughout!

He Had Me From the Moment We Met

On September 23, 2011, I went to a rave in Manhattan, which is three hours from home and not my norm. A friend of mine told me that she had extra tickets and needed a designated driver, so I went.

After dancing for a few hours, I was exhausted, so I sat down and fanned myself off with a brochure I found on the ground. A young man walked up to me and said, "Excuse me miss, you look hot."

I flashed him a dirty look because men had been acting like pigs all night and it just angered me. He apologized and said "No, I’m sorry. I meant you look sweaty. Are you okay?"

I told him I was fine and ignored him. He complimented me on how pretty my eyes were, and just kept talking to me. Frustrated, I told him, "I don't mean to be rude, but if you're hitting on me, please don't. I'm 85 percent lesbian and I’m not here to hook up."

He asked me "85 percent? Where's the other 15 percent?"

So I told him, "It's reserved for a guy who's going to sweep me off my feet, but since men don't typically do that, I only date women."

He sort of smiled and said, "I can appreciate that." He then asked me to use my phone, telling me his was broken. So I gave it to him. He returned it and his friend came up to us and asked for a picture. He took it and I walked away.

About an hour later, a tall muscular man without a shirt on tried coming onto me in an obscene way. I saw the guy from earlier walking with his friends and told him, my boyfriend wouldn’t appreciate his crudeness.

I walked over to the other guy, grabbed his arm and asked him to pretend to be my boyfriend. He did until the man walked away. Then we said our goodbyes. I left the Gramercy Theater (location of the rave) shortly after to stay at a friend’s house in Manhattan.

The next day I was driving myself and my friend home and I got a text saying "Hey, it's Paul." When I got home I texted him back asking how he got my number. He told me he called his phone from mine and wanted to get to know me better.

We talked for a couple weeks and I realized how sincere he sounded. About a month later, I went back to the city to go on a date with him. Shortly after, we started seeing each other regularly. We moved in together about two months into our relationship and we've been together since.

Together, we moved from upstate N.Y back to the city. I found out I was pregnant and we moved to South Carolina during my pregnancy. Almost three years later, we have a beautiful daughter and we're inseparable. He likes to think he had me from the moment we met.
