I'd have to say my most memorable Valentine's Day was when I was in first grade. A boy in kindergarten had a crush on me and asked his mom if he could get something for me for Valentine's Day. I was totally surprised and had NO idea this little boy even liked me. But during class that day he came in with his mom and gave me a rose, a box of chocolates and a 101 Dalmatian necklace and bracelet. It was so cute and I loved it. Unfortunately my little sister was a bit jealous because she wasn't in school yet and didn't receive any candy or gifts. Later that night she proceeded to break my necklace and bracelet. All was forgiven because what I got most out of all of that was a very special memory I'll keep forever.

Well, what do I say? I thought it would be the worst Valentine's Day for me, but by the end of the day it was really the best day for me. I come from a place where kidnapping or anything bad can happen at any time. I had left in the morning around 11 a.m. I was on my way to the mall as my boyfriend said he was too busy to even meet me. So I thought I would just go and roam around in the mall.

When I was walking, some guys in a van just picked me up and dragged me in the van. I was so terrified. I didn't know anything. While crying, I just passed out. I woke up after one hour. I saw that I was in a place where I had never been before. There was a beach in the front and I was in the forest, which came before the beach.

There were full, red balloons around a table with roses and heart chocolates. And then I saw my boyfriend holding a big teddy bear for me. I was so shocked and choked. He had planned all this. Those guys were his friends. He did all this to make our first Valentine's Day together the best. I really thought I was kidnapped and I was cursing the day. But in the end, my day turned out to be the best! Sounds fake, but I lived each and every moment said in this story.

Well, my Valentine's Day story is probably the best, but worst story ever! About six years ago, I fell in love with my first boyfriend. It was 2007 and I was a freshman in high school. We were really into each other and we were pretty much inseparable through our high school years. Senior year came and then graduation. I went to a community college and he started working. A few months later, we had an extremely bad break up. It was very emotional and heartbreaking for us, as well as our families.

But we kept in touch with each other. By the time the New Year came around in 2012, we fell out of touch for about a month. January 30th would have marked six years of us dating. He texted me and said, “Happy Anniversary.” After that we got back together. Valentine's Day was coming up and I had no idea what to do, so I just acted like I had a plan for us that day.

Well, it was midnight and we were having a scary movie night and just staying up all night and then spending Valentine's Day and night together. Well, he had another plan in mind! Yelling from the bathroom, he told me to go ahead and play the movie and he was going to get the popcorn. I didn't realize what movie he had put in, so I was just waiting. I grew inpatient and skipped all the previews. He came back into the room and we started watching the movie. Now keep in mind I'm terrified of clowns and creepy dolls. Well, he had put in the movie IT. Worst movie ever, but I watched it. Halfway through the movie I fell asleep. BAD IDEA!

This fool, thinking it was funny, put a clown mask on and then tried to wake me up. When I woke up I saw this big creepy guy standing over me with a clown mask on. So I did what any person would do. I started kicking, punching and screaming. I tried to run away, but I slipped on the rug and had hit my head on the corner of the steps and passed out. Meanwhile, my head has a giant hole in it and I'm bleeding all over the floor and he's screaming like a little girl, or so I was told.

He finally called 911. When I woke up 14 hours later in the ER, the doctor said I had a concussion and required seven stitches and five staples. Part of my hair buzzed off. I was mad. By the time I was able to leave the hospital, it was dark, almost 5:30 in the evening. I thought the whole day was ruined and I was missing hair. I was upset and was silent the whole car ride home. I got into the house and all of our family was there to see if I was ok. I was, even though I was bald in the most visible spot on my whole head. But as I went on to tell the story of what had happened, I went to turn around and grabbed his hand and there he was, keeling. He proposed to me and I couldn't say yes at that very moment because I had to take a shower. You see, he scared me so bad that I had peed myself and didn't know it until I was home. Nobody told me until I saw the stain on my PJ's. But the next day I said yes. Our wedding isn't till 2015 after I graduate from college.

My best Valentine's Day was last year. My husband and I decided that were going to go to dinner at a later date. We were very busy with work and kids. I didn't expect a thing. On the 14th, I received flowers from my husband and my father. Throughout the day, I found four cards hidden from my husband and kids. It was a great day -- much better than going out to dinner!

Melody C.

Melody C.

My name is Melody. My best Valentine's Day was in 1995, my senior year in high school. My best friend, Bobby, gave me a basket of my favorite scent from Bath and Body Works and a malachite pyramid (my favorite crystal). We soon started dating and got married in 2001.

We have a beautiful daughter. I have had health problems for the past eight years. He has been my rock and has never let me down. We have been through more together than most couples who have been together for 40 years, including the loss of his brother in 1995 to leukemia, and both of his parents drowning in a scuba diving accident.

He gave me strength even when one of my health problems was slowly taking my life. My stomach became paralyzed and I could barely eat. I underwent an experimental surgery which placed a pacemaker on my stomach. It shocks my stomach muscles so that I can eat more now. Luckily, I have survived and healed for the most part.

One of my health problems caused me to lose a lot of my hair. I would love to have some of your highlight extensions to add some fun color to my hair. I love the green, red and purple highlight streaks. My daughter and I would have fun adding cool colors to our hair!

I was in seventh grade. No Valentine. No crush, nothing. I walked into school hoping for a normal day at least, but no. This would be the worst day ever. I couldn't remember the exact first event, but it was along the lines of getting a lunch detention or something. After heading to the locker room, I reached into my bag to pull out my gym clothes. First, I dug around for a juice box I was looking forward to drinking later. As I dipped my hand into my backpack, it was soaked.

My juice box had exploded all over my papers and books. Disappointed, I scavenged for my gym clothes. Shocked, I pulled out the shorts to see the stain of the juice had permeated the crotch. Of course. Now I was mad. I threw the pants and top into my gym locker and slammed the locker door, not realizing my hand was still in the locker and BAM! I had a throbbing thumb. I still remember the awful day. It haunts me.

My best Valentine’s Day was last year. My boyfriend was away on a business trip so I was going to go have dinner somewhere by myself. I went to a restaurant after a long day of work, but they wouldn't let me in. I asked why and they said, “Sorry, couples only.”

I tried the next three restaurants but they were filled up. I decided to go home and make myself dinner. As I got home I saw a car in my driveway. I didn't recognize it, so I parked my car and walked up to my door. I saw my boyfriend standing at the door with a bunch of flowers and chocolates. I asked him what was he doing here and he said, “I decided to come home early, Happy Valentine’s Day.”

I was the happiest girl in the world.

The best Valentine's Day I had was one a few years ago with my now husband. We were moving into our first home together, and were trying to get everything situated in our apartment. We had worked all afternoon and we were SO tired. After we got everything done, I figured that we wouldn't have time for anything else and that this was going to be just another day.

I was about to settle in for the evening when he went outside. He came back in and had a bouquet of flowers for me, and asked me if I would like to go out to dinner. I was so surprised and it was such a sweet gesture! We went out to dinner and relaxed together with just the two of us. I was so happy to have our home together, and spend time relaxing with him all in one day.

This story is about one of the worst Valentine's Day I had. Normally Valentine's Day is supposed to be a day filled with love. But mine turned out to be the total opposite.

I had actually planned to spend the whole day with my boyfriend, but unfortunately he had to travel to another place on the eve of Valentine's Day.

So I thought I would spend the whole day at home. I decided to cook something from a cookbook. I decided to make baked salmon and thyme. Well, I kept the fish out to clean it, but then I got a phone call so I went to receive it. By the time I was back, my cat, Snookums, had eaten the fish! Arghh! I was so mad at myself for forgetting that there was a cat in the house. So obviously I had to change the dish as there was no fish thanks to my wonderful cat! I then decided to make Tiramisu, something sweet. But that too ended as a disaster. In total, my Valentine’s Day was a complete disaster!

Hi, my name is Annie. My best Valentine's Day surprise was from my boyfriend, Josh. He was away on business and told me he would not be able to celebrate with me. I came home from work to four dozen roses on my front step. When I walked inside, he was there cooking a lobster dinner with candles everywhere. I am so blessed to have him!

My best Valentine's Day is when my boyfriend surprised me with a chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of bubbly on the beach. He hired a photographer and we watched the sun set. It was so unbelievably amazing. He wrote me a letter and it had 14 different things he loved about me in ode of February 14th. He is so romantic!

Tonya S.

Tonya S.

My name is Tonya. My best Valentine's Day story would have to be my very first date with my best friend, who is now my husband. We were so young and little did we know that this date would be the first of many to come. Like any girl on her first date would be, I was super excited.

He came to my parent's house and had to get dropped off by his older brother. So dorky, right? But like I said, we were super-young. He had the biggest smile and the best little basket filled with goodies and a cute little teddy bear. We went out and he treated me to Outback Steakhouse. He let me know I could get anything I wanted. Most of the guys I talked to before were such cheap jerks.

He made me feel like such a princess. Just his company and big smile was all I needed. I look back now and his funny jokes really sucked. The reason why this was my best Valentine's Day was because it was the beginning of all my dreams with the love of my life. Now we have been together for seven years and married for five of them. We have the two most beautiful kids. I feel so blessed to have this life. It all started on a day full of love. So now every year we do the same thing on Valentine's Day and are growing more in love now than ever.

Well, of all things, my birthday is Valentine's Day. A few years ago, on my birthday, I was to be at my own birthday party with family in southern Ohio. Sadly, a huge snowstorm hit an already snow-saturated western Pennsylvania. Needless to say, I was the only one unable to attend my own party. My sisters called from their cellphones so that I could at least hear the party.

My best Valentine's Day story is from my now ex-boyfriend. We had a long distance relationship while I was in college. We had only been dating for a couple of weeks. I received an email that I had a package at school and he had sent me a huge bunch of roses! Later that evening, he showed up and took me to dinner! He drove 2 hours just to see me on that day. It was the best Valentine's Day I've had!

My worst Valentine's Day started off very nice. I was dating a guy, let's call him Jack. Jack and I had been dating for three months. We had fun and so far, a great relationship. He took me to a lovely dinner with flowers and chocolate- the whole package. All of a sudden he asked me to marry him. I was in total shock.

I said yes just because it took me by such huge surprise. He was full of smiles and was very happy about the whole thing. Meanwhile, my throat started to close. I felt like I was going to be sick. I walked out of the restaurant. Right in the doorway; I vomited. It was clear I was having a panic attack from the proposal. I kept throwing up until I told him the truth.

He was clearly devastated and heartbroken. I felt awful. We went our separate ways. To this day I still haven't spoken to him about that night. To top it off, everyone who walked out of the restaurant that night had to walk through my vomit! By far the worst night!

I am extremely close with my mom. Every year we go on a trip around the winter time. Last year we went on a cruise through the Caribbean, which fell through Valentine's Day. Both of us are single, so we decided that for our Valentine's Day, we would be each other's Valentine. We spent the entire day together. We went to the beach, took pictures and went snorkeling! Then, at night, we had an amazing dinner together. She said it was the best Valentine's Day she’s ever had and I had to agree!

I was sitting at home after a long day of work with no Valentine. The guy that I liked really had no clue I was into him and we had been friends forever. As I'm about to go to bed, I hear a knock on my door. It was the boy I liked. He was holding red roses and a huge teddy bear. He said, "I heard you needed a Valentine." As tears streamed down my face from being so overjoyed, we kissed. We have been dating ever since.

My worst Valentine's Day was in 2009. I was three months pregnant. My boyfriend had come home empty-handed. No gift, nothing. It’s not like that mattered. A happy Valentine's would have been good for me, but no.

I was mad and reminded him it was Valentine's Day and gave him his gift. We just argued and he stormed out. I was so emotional. I just cried all day and swore Valentine's Day for me was over.

But every Valentine's Day since then, my gifts have gotten better and better. Maybe this time he'll pop the question.

My best (mostly bittersweet) Valentine's Day was Feb. 14, 2012. The weekend before Valentine's Day, I broke up with my boyfriend of one year. I was in low spirits the whole week and dreaded Valentine's Day. I frequently caught myself feeling bitter passing by Valentine's Day posters in the high school hallways, and feeling ashamed for being one of the many bitter people on the special day dedicated to love.

As my "holiday cheer" grew ever drearier, my friend, who I had a crush on since freshman year, sought me out. He told me he wanted to make this Valentine's Day a little bit better for me, and asked me out to dinner at his place.

When I arrived at his house, the lights were dim. Of course I found this very cliché, and out of embarrassment, laughed quietly. He opened the door, dressed very nicely in a black button down and white tie. He ushered me in to the dining room, where a sweet table was laden with pasta and sparkling wine was waiting. And, as another cliché touch, there was a single rose in a plain vase in the middle.

On either side of the rose, there was a small, white candle. I was thoroughly nervous the entire night, but pleased. At the end of the night, as I was leaving, he turned to me and said that he knew it was soon, and he wasn't asking for any sort of commitment, but that he liked me - a lot. And he hoped, that when I was up to it, I'd give him my time. Now we have been dating for six months. That, so far, has been my best Valentine's

I would have to say my best Valentine's Day would be this year, even though it hasn't even started. This is the first Valentine's Day with my baby girl, Adrienne Nichole. She is the true love of my life. She is my valentine and always will be. Also, my fiancé, Matthew, is bettering himself for his family and we are getting our life together for a better future. I am happy with this year altogether.

My worst Valentine's Day ever was two years ago. My fiancé at the time and I decided to go to the Colombia Zoo to celebrate Valentine's Day, my birthday and our anniversary, which are all within a week of each other.

We did nothing but argue the whole way there. He was driving and we missed a turn and got lost. When we finally got there, I wanted to see the penguins so bad, but they were gone. They had taken them in the back for something and there was a note that said they would be back two hours from then. I literally cried. Haha. And then my fiancé said I was being stupid and embarrassing him. When we got home, he left and I spent the rest of the day alone.

My name is Ashley and here is my worst Valentine's Day story. When I was about 15 years old, I had a boyfriend that I was crazy about. I bought him a picture frame for Valentine's Day, with a collage of pictures of us from various occasions. Well, the day before Valentine's Day, he broke up with me! I was so heartbroken that I forgot about his gift, which was next to my bed at home. Throughout the day at school, I got over it and decided he was a jerk that wasn't worth my time. When I got home, I felt a million times better about the break up- until I got to my room and saw all the pictures and was devastated all over again! Haha. Looking back now, it’s kind of funny.

Always remember the good ones! Although it was many years ago, when I was a senior year in high school, I was working at a well-known restaurant. (Hint-their motto is "Over 5 billion sold.")

I worked with a young man, the same age as me, whom I thought was a hard worker and always kind and considerate. At first I thought of him as a great friend and that he was lots of fun to work with. Well, one thing lead to another and nervously I asked him to my prom! He accepted and from then on we were a couple!

The following year, on Valentine’s Day, he showered me with flowers, candy, dinner etc. He was the type to give gifts for no reason. The most treasured things I received from him were his love letters and cards, often found on my windshield.

The most romantic one I received was left on my car with a single red rose. On the front of the card was a girl on a swing with the words, "Should you fall...." On the inside were the words, "I will be there to catch you." It was such a beautiful card; I cried! To this day I still have the card, some 35 years later. Jimmy was his name and he was my true first love! Wonderful memories!

My best Valentine's Day ever was the year of 2012. I was waiting for my boyfriend to get home from work and we had plans of going out to eat. He called me and asked if I had checked the mail. I said yes, and his reply was, "Well, maybe you should check it again." I went to check the mail and there was an envelope. I opened the envelope to find a card telling me that I am on a scavenger hunt for Valentine's Day. I was super excited. The card also said that my first clue was on our back patio.

I walked outside and there was a stuffed teddy bear with another envelope. Inside was a gift card for Smoothie king, which is one of my favorite smoothie places. At the time, I was addicted. The card said my next clue was at Smoothie King and that I must go there right away to purchase a smoothie in order to receive my clue.

I thought it was an odd thing to do, but I went to Smoothie King. When I walked in there were two employees and their faces looked very curious and happy. I thought it was really awkward, but ignored this. They asked for my name. I was clueless that my boyfriend must have told them to watch for me. I didn’t even think about the fact that they had never taken my name before. The boy working asked again my name when he gave me the smoothie, and all of a sudden said, "I have something for you." The boy brought me a big bouquet of flowers. I cried a little with so much joy. This was the sweetest thing that had ever happened. There was an envelope with the flowers.

There was a note inside reading "Go where two can dine for $20." Applebee's has been one of my favorite restaurants and I knew immediately that's where he meant. Sure enough, he was there waiting for me. He is always doing sweet things for me even when it is not for a holiday. He's truly the best guy that I know. He is wonderful with his daughter and is just a great person to everybody that he meets. I couldn't see myself spending the rest of my life with anyone else.
